Sprinkle – Consumer

Calling me a consumer (one who consumes),
demeans me as a person, and makes me angry.

It’s like saying I’m a little vacuum cleaner,
indiscriminately sucking everything/anything up,
only to puke up wads of money.

I am not a consumer!
I am a human… being.

Scientifically speaking, an organism is a producer, consumer, or decomposer. I’m not a scientist so forgive me if I left out some other link in the chain. I believe we humans actually are consumers. But do we consume indiscriminately or do we carefully think about the effects of our consumption? Whoever (yes, a corporation is apparently a person) is labeling you a consumer is doing so for very good reason. They want you to believe you’re the thing that makes you so angry.

    • You are right on both counts (technically)… but I wanted (& would like) to make it known that whenever someone calls me a consumer, I take it as an insult. Why? Because I think… and, like you said, ‘they’ want me to believe that I am just some mindless animal into whose mouth/grasp they can stuff anything they want (using their media marketing)… Well, they can stuff this…
Sorry, that was meant for them, not you… I’m in a bit of a bad mood… one of those days/weeks when all gets to me, a little.
But really, I appreciate your comment (as I work on re-centering). 🙂
